Just after midnight on December 19th, Rescue Squad 9 was alerted along with station 3 units for a vehicle collision with rescue on Route 27 south of Beren Lane. All units quickly responded since volunteers were staffing the equipment due to the blizzard conditions. However, response was delayed because of the dangerous road conditions. Engine 32 arrived with a single vehicle on its side in a ditch confirming one patient trapped. Rescue Squad 9 arrived and first stabilized the vehicle with the Res-Q-Jacks. Crews then worked to complete a roof flap on the car to gain access to the patient. It took about an hour to remove the patient from the car and move them to the medic unit. The patient was transported to CHC. Units returned to service shortly after.
