| Last night January 19th, members of Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company participated in a Surface Ice Training exercise that was coordinated by Gamber & Community Fire Co. at a pond in Pleasant Valley. Swiftwater rescue technicians and land support members from Gamber, Pleasant Valley Community Fire Co. and Reese took advantage of the fridged temperature and braved the icy waters and sub-zero wind chills (aka proper weather conditions for a training of this kind) to practice and learn skills necessary when assisting a victim who has fallen through ice into freezing waters. Several scenarios were conducted where technicians rescued a "victim" and Emergency Medical Staff was also on hand to monitor all of the participants and assist any who required assistance after participation in the training exercises. Thank you to Gamber VFC and Pleasant Valley VFC for this great training opportunity. |
