RVFC Responds to a 3-33 Box- Building Fire at the Boston Inn

On February 3, 2024, at 4:21 PM, Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a Building Fire at the Boston Inn in the 500 unit block of Baltimore Blvd.in Westminster. (Box 3-33)

Units from Westminster, Pleasant Valley, and Reese arrived on scene at the Boston Inn to find heavy smoke coming from an end unit of the northwest side of the motel. Chief 3 (Leppert - Westminster) assumed command.

Occupants were cleared from adjoining units of the motel, and crews went to work attacking the fire that was coming from the kitchen of the basement unit and extending into the 1st floor unit above.

Units were on scene for approximately 10 minutes before the fire was deemed under control.

Smoke and fire damage was incurred to the drywall, flooring, and kitchen area of the basement unit and extensed into the drywall and carpet of the 1st floor unit above.

Units remined on scene to assist with ventilation efforts for approximately an hour after the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported of occupants or emergency personnel.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is on scene investigating as is the County Building Inspector.

No further information is available at this time.
