On Wednesday evening around 10:30, units were alerted for smoke coming from the roof of the Carroll County Career and Technology Center. Upon making their outside rounds before leaving for the night, custodial staff noticed smoke coming from the roof area of the Center. After calling 911 the staff advised arriving units that they thought there was a dryer on fire in the lower level. Upon investigation it was confirmed that a dryer with cleaning materials had overheated and caused the alarm. There was no extension of fire out of the dryer, however crews from Westminster and Reese remained on the scene for almost an hour removing smoke from throughout the building.
