| At Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company, we believe our history lives in the people who built it.
This month, we are proud to honor our oldest living member, William “Mr. Bill” Fourhman — a true pillar of our fire company and community.
Mr. Bill became a member of Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company on July 17, 1951 — more than seven decades ago. Since that day, he has remained a constant presence at the firehouse, earning the affectionate title of “Utility Man” for his willingness to help anyone, anytime, with just about anything.
Over the years, Mr. Bill has:
* Served our company faithfully for 74 years
* Worked professionally at Bendix Corporation and later Verizon before retirement
* Sung in the Carroll County Chorus and a local Barbershop Quartet
* Remained active in Grace Lutheran Church
* Played softball for Reese and the University of Maryland
* Coached Little League and youth football
* Supported our Bingo operations for years — and still attends weekly at the young age of 94
Children in his neighborhood once knocked on his door to ask if “Mr. Bill” would come out and play ball. That spirit of service, kindness, and presence defines who he is — both inside and outside the firehouse.
While he has been nominated for induction into the CCVESA Hall of Fame, to us, Mr. Bill has long been a Hall of Famer in heart, character, and commitment.
We are grateful for his decades of dedication, friendship, and steady example. Reese VFC is stronger because of him.
