Shortly after 7:30 AM on April 25, fire units from across Carroll County were dispatched to a building fire at the Springfield Hospital Center in Sykesville.

Upon arrival, crews found an active fire in a vacant building with flames visible through the roof. Due to the fire conditions, teams operated defensively while working to bring the fire under control.

During firefighting efforts, a second fire was discovered in a nearby building and was quickly extinguished.

Reese responded with Engine 91, Rescue Squad 9, and Utility 91 to assist with fire suppression and support operations.

Water supply difficulties caused by inoperable hydrants required a second alarm and additional tanker support.

Fire crews remained on scene for several hours before bringing the incident under control. No injuries were reported.
