| With temperatures expected to climb into the triple digits over the next several days, Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company encourages everyone to take extra precautions to stay safe during this extreme heat event. High temperatures combined with humidity can quickly lead to heat-related illnesses, especially for older adults, young children, individuals with chronic medical conditions, outdoor workers, and pets. Stay Safe in the Heat: Heat Exhaustion: Move the person to a cooler location, loosen clothing, provide cool water if they are alert, and cool them with wet cloths or fans. Heat Stroke — Medical Emergency: Call 911 immediately if someone is showing signs of heat stroke. While waiting for emergency responders, move the person to a cooler area and begin cooling them with cold cloths, ice packs, or cool water if it can be done safely. Taking a few simple precautions can help prevent heat-related emergencies and keep our community safe during this period of extreme temperatures. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look out for one another. 🚒 Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company |
