It is with great sadness that the Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company shares the passing of longtime member Richard Norman Cox, who passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Richard dedicated more than 20 years of volunteer service to Reese & Community VFC. Like so many who have served within our walls, his commitment became part of the history and legacy of our company and the community we are privileged to serve.

Beyond the firehouse, Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He shared 44 years of marriage with his wife, Brenda, and enjoyed dirt track racing, camping with family and friends, and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Brenda, the Cox family, and all who knew and loved Richard. We are grateful for the years he gave to our company and community, and we will remember his service with gratitude.

Rest easy, Richard. Thank you for your service.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services in Westminster, with funeral services beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Please keep the Cox family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
