| Yesterday, members of Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company joined our community in remembering the lives lost and honoring the heroes of September 11, 2001.
Our morning began with a crew aboard Rescue Squad 9 attending the Carroll County 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony. Twenty-five years later, we continue to pause and remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day, including the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel and other first responders who answered the call without hesitation.
We remember those who ran toward danger.
We remember those who never made it home.
We remember the families whose lives were forever changed.
And we honor all who continued to serve in the days, months and years that followed.
Later, another crew had the opportunity to attend a brief remembrance ceremony at Mission BBQ in Westminster, followed by a meal generously provided to first responders.
We are grateful to Mission BBQ for continuing to make September 11 a day of remembrance and for their kindness toward those who serve their communities today.
For our members, it was a day to stand alongside our fellow first responders and our community, remember those who came before us, and reflect on the responsibility carried by those who continue to answer the call.
Twenty-five years later, we remember.
