| Accident disrupts traffic on Md. 140
A man was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center Friday afternoon after a two-car collision on Md. 140 near the intersection of Dede Road, during rush hour.
According to a Maryland state trooper who was at the scene, a white Acura driven by a woman from Howard County was driving eastbound near Dede Road Friday afternoon. A truck was in the westbound lane and the two vehicles collided in the westbound lane.
The truck ended up on its side in the westbound lane of Md. 140, but police received conflicting reports about whether the truck flipped or not.
Police were unsure of the cause of the accident Friday night. They would not release the names of the vehicles' occupants.
The driver of the Acura was taken by ambulance to Sinai Hospital as a precaution and released Friday night. A passenger in the truck was flown to shock trauma as a precaution, for possible head injuries, police said.
The truck's driver and another passenger refused medical treatment at the scene.
Police shut down Md. 140 during the accident investigation until they were able to set up a westbound traffic lane in one of the eastbound lanes.
Reese, Reisterstown and Gamber fire companies all responded to the scene of the accident, along with the Carroll County Hazmat Team, which was called in to clean up a fuel spill.
