February 14, 2021- Official Response from the Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company regarding recent online Facebook posts from RVFC Members.
Having disconcerting statements expressed by our Membership is sad and disheartening to see in such a public manner. However, the views and opinions that were expressed by our members over the weekend are not the views and opinions of ALL of our members and Staff associated with Reese VFC as an organization.
Every Fire Company has internal struggles, and oftentimes someone is not always happy with what is being said or what is being done within the Company. The post and pictures tell a compelling narrative; however, this matter has two-sides and only one side was being presented on Facebook to the reader. This matter, while unfortunate was an internal matter, and in our opinion one that should not have been broadcasted in a public forum. However, the members that did so, have been granted the legal right to express their opinions and concerns. Reese has had governing documents, policies, and procedures in place and we will consult our resources to handle this matter in an appropriate manner.
Currently, we are not going to dignify the members post with an elaborate response, rather will state that that we (the Board of Directors, Membership, and Staff) of the Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company take great pride in our Firehouse, the organization itself, and providing excellent emergency services to our Community, as we have since our incorporation in 1948.
Rest assured, we will not allow this matter to interfere with the integrity of our Fire Company or the emergency services that we provide to the Community. We appreciate your continued support as we investigate and address this matter further.
Thank you, Kati Townsley, Chair of the Board and PIO |
