April 18, 2026

On Saturday, April 18, 2026, at approximately 12:15 PM, units from Reese Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched for a reported barn fire in the 900 block of Ridge Road in our first due area.

Responding units observed a large column of black smoke from several miles out, confirming a working fire.

Upon arrival, crews found a barn fully involved, with fire also extending to a nearby travel trailer. Due to the volume of fire and conditions on scene, firefighters initiated an exterior attack while working to protect nearby homes.

Additional resources, including a tanker task force, were requested to support water supply operations. Firefighters from multiple neighboring departments worked together to contain the fire and prevent further spread. Units from Baltimore and Howard Counties assisted by providing station coverage during the incident.

Crews operated on scene for several hours to bring the fire under control.

Shortly after 4:00 PM, Reese units were dispatched back to the scene for a rekindle. Engine 91 and Brush 95 responded and located remaining fire, which was quickly extinguished. Crews opened up affected areas further and checked for any remaining hot spots before clearing the scene.

The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

We are grateful for the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies, including both volunteer and career personnel, who worked together throughout this extended incident to protect life and property.
