| Tuesday evening, members of Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company responded alongside numerous departments from Carroll and Baltimore counties for a reported building fire in Westminster.
The call was dispatched shortly before 5:45 p.m. after reports of a fire involving the roof of a multi-story residential building.
Engine 92, Rescue Squad 9 and Medic 98 responded from Reese and joined crews operating on the scene.
Engine 92's crew was initially assigned to the second floor, where members assisted with the evacuation of residents. Rescue Squad 9 continued those efforts, searching the second and third floors and assisting residents from the building.
Once that work was completed, Engine 92's crew moved to the roof, where members worked with other crews to open portions of the roof and check for any extension of the fire.
Incidents involving occupied residential buildings require many firefighters and EMS personnel performing different assignments simultaneously—from fire attack and ventilation to searches, evacuation, medical support and other fireground operations. Tuesday evening's response was another example of the teamwork and coordination that takes place among our neighboring departments when our communities need us.
