| Last evening, members of the Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company, alongside our Carroll County Department of Fire & EMS career personnel, members of the Westminster Fire Department, and Battalion Chief Pierson, conducted an “After the Fire” outreach following last week’s fatal house fire on Old Westminster Pike.
Crews went door-to-door in the 1600–1700 block of Old Westminster Pike, speaking directly with residents about home fire safety and the importance of having properly installed and working smoke alarms.
At each home, members asked residents about their smoke alarms, answered fire safety questions, and offered free smoke alarms to homeowners who needed them.
The response from our neighbors was incredibly positive. We appreciate everyone who opened their doors, took a few minutes to talk with us, asked questions, and allowed our personnel the opportunity to share potentially lifesaving information.
While we are always ready to respond when an emergency occurs, some of the most important work we can do happens before the call ever comes. Prevention, education, and face-to-face conversations with the people we serve are an important part of our mission.
